New VNX Series Standard Superabrasive Vitrified Wheels for Surface Grinding
The
Wickman Corporation, a pioneer in the development of superabrasive grinding
wheels and hones, has announced the development of new standard vitrified wheels
suited for reciprocating surface grinding of a wide variety of materials
including aluminum, carbide, cast iron, D2, granite, inconel, phenolics,
stainless steel, and titanium.
Wickman's proprietary vitrified bond formulation provides the new wheel with high stock removal characteristics and long life, reducing the need for frequent wheel changeover. The vitrified bond works with any modern production surface grinding machine and uses the same feed as conventional superabrasive wheels.
VNX wheels are manufactured in rough, medium or fine grit and come in two standard sizes, the VNX 200 (8" x .5" x 1.25) and the VNX 300 (12" x 1" x 5") .
They can also be custom produced in a wide variety of sizes to fit virtually any surface grinding need.
"We've always been known for our custom wheels," said Wickman Corporation president Ben Stormes II, "but, the wide application and strength of the VNX wheel led us to believe there's a real market need for an off-the-shelf wheel like this one.
"Quite frankly, we haven't found a material yet that this wheel can't grind," Stormes added. "It totally eliminates the need for changeover between the grinding of differing materials."
